When Lightfoot opened twenty years ago, Leesburg was still a sleepy little town without a lot going on downtown. My, how things have changed! Downtown Leesburg is hip– with a terrific synergy going on among cafes, restaurants, galleries and music venues. Lightfoot has long been a cornerstone of the downtown Leesburg nightlife scene. Here’s how to plug Lightfoot into a great night out in NoVa’s hottest downtown.
Lightfoot Leesburg: First Friday Fun
First Fridays in Leesburg are always the bomb, and when the weather gets nice, there’s nothing better. With tons of downtown businesses opening their doors for evening fun, First Fridays include everything from live music to gallery openings to wine tastings and more. We recommend getting the evening started with Lightfoot’s Friday happy hour. Happy hour at Lightfoot happens Monday-Friday from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the bar and features $5-8 small plates with offerings like crispy fish tacos, deviled eggs, zucchini fries, mussels with spicy tomato and bacon sauce (the menu changes according to the season and our chef’s inspiration). We’re also pouring special cocktails for $6, selected wines for $5 and draft beers for $4. It’s a great way to unwind with friends on a weeknight or before your First Friday stroll!
Or do your strolling on the early side and end the evening with dinner on the patio at Lightfoot. Our backyard patio is a downtown Leesburg favorite any day of the week, and it’s dog-friendly!
Lightfoot Leesburg: Gallery Ladies Night or Date Night
Cooley Gallery is one of our favorite new neighbors. In the same way, that Carrie and Ingrid took over the old People’s Bank building more than 15 years ago to create Lightfoot Restaurant, former Washington Redskin (and noted ceramicist) Chris Cooley recently bought a bail bondsman’s building next door and turned it into a gorgeous art gallery. In addition to selling terrific work by hand-picked local artists, Chris offers great evening events like monthly paint and sip Canvas and Cork nights and special ladies nights featuring everything from ceramics to cupcake decorating.
The gallery also offers pottery classes for couples—perfect for a date night. Lightfoot is a few steps away, so dinner at Lightfoot before or after your class makes so much sense. So get your girls or your sweetheart and make an evening of it!
Lightfoot Leesburg: The Music Scene Rocks
Just because we’re grown-ups doesn’t mean we don’t know how to have fun! How about a casually elegant dinner at Lightfoot followed by a rock show around the corner at the Tally Ho Theatre? This old school movie theater was turned into a top-notch concert venue a few years ago and has been one of the best things to happen to downtown Leesburg. The Tally Ho hosts international touring acts like Blues Traveler, Judy Collins, Dave Mason and many more, along with super fun tribute bands that will let you relive old favorites. Leesburg’s Acoustic On The Green Series brings the region’s best singer/songwriters downtown Saturdays starting June 11, and the Bluemont Concert Series gets rolling Sundays starting June 26. Stop in for drinks and apps on the patio before the show to get the evening started right!
Lightfoot Leesburg: Supper and Salsa
It used to be that after a great meal at Lightfoot, there weren’t a lot of late night options downtown. But things are changing for the better on that front with a new crop of bars and lounges. Chimole Wine & Tapas Bar is one of our neighbors who’s shaking up the late-night scene. Chimole offers pottery and jewelry from Central America, great wine and live Latin music most Thursdays and Fridays. On Fridays, the music doesn’t even get going until ten p.m.—how’s that for late night! We’re thinking dinner on the patio at Lightfoot and then a short walk down King Street to salsa the night away.
Lightfoot Leesburg: Wining And Dining Starts Here
The sleepy little burg we opened our first restaurant in over 20 years ago is a thing of the past. Nightlife in downtown Leesburg is on the upswing with a bumper crop of fun new venues. The vibe is urban cool, and Lightfoot Restaurant fits right into the fabulous mix that is wining and dining downtown. Pop in for happy hour or a drink on the patio. We have a feeling you’ll wind up staying for dinner and soaking in the downtown Leesburg scene.
